About the role

Pay: 50% of the build fee, a 15% monthly residual, 10% on renewals, and milestone bonuses. You build your own leads, with a small starter list from us. Appointments are not provided.

The Marketing Clerics is a small, faith-led marketing company in Hastings, Minnesota. We run done-for-you email marketing that brings a contractor's past customers back: one personalized email a month plus an automated follow-up system, built on the Housecall Pro or ServiceTitan data the shop already has. Electricians, HVAC, and plumbing owners are our buyers.

We're adding 3 to 5 independent reps to sell the program. We're looking for reps with 5+ years selling to electrical, HVAC, and plumbing owners, who already have a book of business and want a recurring-income service to add to their lines. This is independent contract work, not employment.

The product you'd be selling

The Stewardship Program: a $3,500 build fee that covers month one, then $1,299/month for months 2 to 12 (or $15,000 paid in full). Our prices rise over time, and your commissions are percentages, so your pay rises with them.

Who qualifies: shops on Housecall Pro MAX or ServiceTitan with 500 or more past customers (the $599 trial has no minimum).

Your path to the close is up to you. Run the audit yourself and go straight to a signed contract, or offer the $599 one-send trial as a low-risk first step for owners who need one. The trial itself pays no commission. If you use it, you're paid when it converts to a signed contract, and we expect most trial clients to decide within 60 days. Your protection on that lead holds through the trial (see Lead protection below).

Pay

Close commission: 50% of the build fee on every signed contract. At today's $3,500 build fee, that's $1,750 per close, paid in three parts as the client pays:

When it paysShareAt $3,500 build fee
Build fee clears50%$875
Month-2 payment clears25%$437.50
Month-4 payment clears, client current25%$437.50
Total100%$1,750

Discounts: you may lower the build fee within limits set in your rep agreement. Any discount comes out of your close commission dollar for dollar.

Residual: 15% of the monthly fee for months 2 to 12 ($194.85/month per client at today's $1,299), paid only on fees collected.

Renewals: 10% of the monthly fee ($129.90/month today) when a client signs a new 12-month contract, for as long as that contract pays. Our account team handles renewals, so there's no follow-up work for you. A client who stays on month to month without a new contract pays no further commission.

Pay-in-full clients: 25% of the upfront price ($3,750 on today's $15,000).

Commissions are paid within 3 business days of the client's payment clearing, with a statement.

Example year-one earnings at today's prices, including milestone bonuses: about $33,000 at one close a month, or about $66,000 at two. Each monthly client pays you about $3,890 in its first year, about 22% of its first-year revenue, so 10 clients from your book are worth about $38,900 before bonuses. Once your book is a year old, one close a month runs about $47,000 a year, plus renewals and bonuses. These are examples, not a guarantee.

Milestone bonuses

On top of commissions, we pay one-time cash bonuses as your client count grows:

MilestoneBonus
5th client$500
10th client$1,000
20th client$2,000
Every 10 clients after that$2,000

A monthly client counts once its month-4 payment clears. A pay-in-full client counts after 4 months with no refund. Bonuses are paid on your next commission statement after the milestone client counts. Clients from your own book and from our list count the same.

When a deal or a rep ends

  • Tranches you've been paid are yours. If a client cancels before month 4, you keep the tranches already paid, and the unpaid ones don't pay. We never bill you for a canceled deal.
  • If we refund a client's payment or the client charges it back, the commission paid on that payment comes out of your next payouts.
  • If you leave in good standing, unpaid tranches on deals you signed still pay out on schedule as those clients pay.
  • If you're terminated for cause, such as misrepresenting the program or promising results, close tranches not yet earned are forfeited.

Lead protection

  • A lead locks to you for 90 days once you have a recorded live call with real discussion, an in-person meeting logged in the CRM within 24 hours, or a screenshot of the prospect replying to you in writing (text, email, or message).
  • If the prospect starts a $599 trial inside your 90 days, your protection extends through the trial and for 60 days after it ends.
  • Voicemails, unanswered emails, and one-way messages don't lock a lead.
  • If two reps claim the same lead, the first logged qualifying contact wins. Adam makes the final call.

Bring your own book. Register the shops you plan to pitch, when you sign on or anytime after. We check them against our list, and anyone not already in our system is yours. Those closes pay the same commission as any other deal.

What we provide

  • A small starter list of home-service shops in your time zone, researched and scored for fit. These are cold leads meant to supplement your own book, not replace it.
  • Our ideal customer profile (ICP) and the key qualifications a shop needs to be a fit, so you know who to spend time on.
  • CRM, dialer, and call recording on our systems. Only the shops you register with us go in it, not your whole book. Those registrations and your notes on them are what make your lead protection enforceable.
  • The full sales playbook: call scripts, the audit framework, objection handling, and proof assets. We use the same materials ourselves. Use what helps you. How you sell is up to you.
  • Founder backup on your first deals. Adam (owner) can join your first audits as the technical expert while you learn how we deliver. Our delivery team handles all fulfillment.

What we don't provide

  • No appointments and no full lead list. You build your own pipeline and handle the full cycle: prospecting, outreach, audit, close, and handoff.
  • No base salary, no benefits, no expense reimbursement. You're 1099, paid on collected money only.
  • No social media profiles for outreach. Use your own and connect with prospects where it makes sense.

Independence and the pilot

You keep your other clients and lines. The only restriction is not carrying a competing customer-reactivation or email marketing line. You work remotely and set your own hours, methods, and equipment. No quotas and no daily activity reports. You do need to keep your pipeline current in the CRM, since that's how your commissions and lead protection are documented. The first term is a 90-day pilot for both sides. At 90 days, either side can decide whether to continue, and deals you've signed keep paying under the agreement. You'll get the full agreement before our first call.

Who this is for

  • You're based in the US, run your own sales business (your own entity, your own week), and already sell to home-service or similar small business owners.
  • You have 5+ years selling to electrical, HVAC, or plumbing owners, you've worked commission-only before, and you have an active book of business.
  • You sell with integrity. You tell prospects the truth, including what the program won't do. No bait-and-switch, no fine-print gotchas, and no promised results. We turn down bad fits, and so should you.

Who this is not for

  • Anyone who needs steady income right away. Month one pays first tranches only.
  • Anyone who wants leads or appointments handed to them, a salary plus commission, or a manager structuring their day.
  • Anyone who closes with pressure or promises.
  • Reps who are new to sales or new to selling to the trades. This line is built for established reps.

Our faith

We're a Christian company. In practice, that means faithful work, honest pricing, and the same standard whether anyone is watching or not. We tell prospects the truth even when it costs us the deal, and we treat a client's customer list as something entrusted to us. As we put it to our own clients: we do this the way Christ told us to, faithfully, attentively, treating people like we'd want to be treated.

How to apply

Answer these four questions, attach a 60 to 90 second voice note introducing yourself, and add your resume or a cover letter if you have one:

  • What lines do you currently carry, and who do you sell them to?
  • How many years have you sold to home-service contractors, and how many owners have you personally sold to in the last 12 months?
  • Walk us through one deal you sourced and closed yourself.
  • In your own words, why do 1099, commission-only, and building your own leads work for you?

You never pay us. No fees, no training costs, no starter kits, no buy-in. If anyone claiming to be us asks you for money, it isn't us.

We reply to every serious application personally. The first conversation is with Adam.
